Profile
Betty, mother of 12, was behind on her rent and behind on her utility bills. She had no financial plan until her boss enrolled her in Finance 4 Her™. "Without Women 4 Women," she says, "I don't know what I would have done. I probably would have filed for bankruptcy. I would have no money in savings."

Betty completed the Finance 4 Her™ classes and plans to continue her participation in the Coach Network as she continues to stabilize her financial situation and refine her plan.

The Problem
More than 70 percent of the households in poverty in Louisville are headed by women. And women in Louisville typically earn 65.9 cents for every $1 men earn. Improving the stability, health and education of women requires financial security.

The Solution
Finance 4 Her™ is a financial education program that teaches basic money management -- budgeting, saving, planning ahead. The program works with the participants personal needs, and helps them develop a financial plan. After the course, Women 4 Women pairs them with volunteer financial coaches who meet with them regularly to keep them motivated and on track.

"As women we are the majority of the households and we need to understand all the ramifications of our finances." - Financial Coach, Marita Willis

Finance 4 Her™ coaches meet with participants once a month in a group and talk with them once a month by phone or one-on-one. Their time commitment is about four hours per month for five months.

A good coach is a woman with a positive attitude, good communication skills and a willingness to help others. You don’t have to be a financial expert, just resourceful and excited about helping another woman work toward long-term financial success. If you want to coach, tell us! We’ll provide the training and guidance.
